Club News - December 2022

Town Hall Craft Markets

This year the club is taking tables at two Christmas Craft Markets in Northallerton Town Hall. If any members would like to

come and see how we’re doing the details are: Sunday December from 10.00am – 3.00pm in the Lower Hall. (There is also Farmers Market in Applegarth) and on Saturday 17 December from 10.00am – 3.00pm in the Town Hall foyer.

Members, their families and friends would be most welcome at the stall to give encouragement and maybe buy a calendar or two to help club funds as well.

Annual 'battle' with Stokesley Photographic Society

Each year we have a friendly ‘battle with Stokesley Photographic Society and at the meeting on December 5 it was a very close fought competition – which we won by the narrowest of margins. Both clubs try to use as many members as possible, which gives the less experienced photographers in the clubs a chance to show their images. In fact, as both clubs have some very good photographers, it is these less proficient members who determine which club wins on the night. The judge was Malcom Blanket ARPS. Top scorers for the club in the Prints section were John Webster with ‘Beached Ice’, Bob Crick with ‘Sandhill Crane Taking Off On Melted Ice’ and Hilary Crick with ‘Reddish Egret on the Prowl’. in the PDI section our top scorers were John Webster with ‘Bee-eater take off’, Bob Crick with ‘Robber Fly Perched’ and Pat Keratin with ‘European Bee-eater with Beetle’.

Well done to everyone involved.

As well as our own Club Calendar, this year we have produced a new ‘Focus on Northallerton Calendar’. Stuart Goldie has worked with Northallerton Town Council and local businesses to bring together an excellent calendar promoting these organisations as well as raising the profile of the Camera Club.

The Calendar is available throughout the town from various outlets including: Mitchells Newsagents, Sam Turner and Sons, The Forum and Barkers.
It is great value priced at only £5.00. Profits from the production of the calendar will go towards club funds.

We are grateful to the organisations and businesses who have taken space in the calendar for their support. They are Northallerton Town Council, Kipling Hall and Gardens, North Yorkshire County Show, Moody Construction, Mile House Veterinary Surgery, The Golden Lion Hotel, Northallerton, Whitegates Nursery & Cafe, Romanby WI, Northallerton May Fair, Sam Turner & Sons, The Forum, Northallerton and Barkers.
