Club News - January 2022

Audrey Pygott

It is with the greatest sadness that once again we have to report the passing of one of our members. Audrey, 87 years of age and the loving wife of the late Jack Pygott, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the night of Monday 24th January 2022 after a long illness.

Whilst many current members will have joined after Audrey ceased to be an active member, there are those among us who will remember a lovely lady who had a wicked but wonderful sense of humour.  She was an active member of the club from around 1980 until well into the current century, when mobility problems prevented her from attending. Audrey enjoyed her photography, rather than taking it seriously, but over many years her colour slides met with a degree of success. In 1988 she won the Maltby Rose Bowl for the Best Action slide in the Annual Exhibition.

Two years later she won the Hall Cup for the Best Intermediate Slide in that year’s Annual Exhibition, and subsequently went on to win it four more times in 1997, 2002, 2004 and 2008.  She was also a keen supporter of the Summer Outings and won the Roebuck Trophy for her efforts in both 1998 and 2005.

Above all though I am confident that she will be remembered as a wonderfully positive and friendly lady who never had an unkind word for any one.  Once again our thoughts at this time are with her two children John and Janet and their wider family.
