Northern Counties Photographic Federation Awards

First of all a summary of the competition. The NCPF is the Northern Counties Photographic Federation and represents camera clubs in the north of England.  It is one of the regions in the national body of camera clubs, which is the PAGB (Photographic Alliance of Great Brfitain).  Each year the NCPF runs a competition for individual photographic club members. There are 5 sections which members can enter:  Beginners PDIs, Beginners Prints, Open Mono Prints, Open Colour Prints and Open PDIs.

In the Open competitions, there are three judges who each give a mark out of 5 making a total mark out of 15.  Individual images can be awarded a Highly Commended and receive a certificate for this. After the initial judging a further panel of NCPF judges will look at the higher marked images and choose the best images for the Alliance Portfolio. The images in this portfolio go on to represent the NCPF at the inter-regional competition run by the PAGB.  A second panel of judges then looks at the remaining images to select a portfolio of prints and images designed to reflect the work of individual Federation members. This portfolio is the Selectors Portfolio. Certificates are given for the Alliance Portfolio and the Selectors Portfolio.

Members who received certificates from this year’s competition are:
Stephen Byard – HC for Boulderised
Paul Cayton – Selectors Portfolio for Deceased
Bob Crick – HC for Female Orange Tip Feeding
Hilary Crick – 2 HCs for Cardinal Fritillary and Bar-tailed Godwit
