She is drawn to the stories of people and their landscape: exploring community and belonging through the impressions we leave on each other, on the land, and the marks that a place may leave on us. Informed by a background in nature conservation and rural development, Lucy works collaboratively with the people she photographs, building dialogue and allowing natural authenticity into her pictures. Using a handheld camera and available light she reaches into shadows of the natural world or dark domestic and agricultural interiors, most often working in black and white for its aesthetic and for the blurring it brings between past and present.
