New Zealand Wildlife Photographer – John Parker

June 8 - from 7:30 pm to approx 9:30 pm

Tonight we have an extra meeting when we will welcome New Zealand based wildlife photographer John Parker for a special ‘out of season’ event. John is an award-winning bird and wildlife photographer based in Te Awamutu, New Zealand, and the founder of Maddox Photography NZ. His work has earned both national and international recognition, including Kiwi Image of the Year and New Zealand Professional Photographer of the Year. His imagery has been published in books, magazines, and calendars worldwide.

With an intimate knowledge of New Zealand’s diverse ecosystems, John specialises in capturing the beauty, behaviour, and character of native bird species. His photographs are recognised for their emotional depth, refined composition, and technical excellence, always grounded in a deep respect for the natural world.

Before becoming a full-time professional photographer, John built a career in outdoor instruction and professional firefighting. These disciplines shaped his calm, decisive leadership style, strong risk awareness, and ability to operate confidently in remote and demanding environments. His work can be viewed on his website here:

As a club, we’re privileged to have John with us in June and we would like to extend an invitation to everyone to join us for this free event at 7:30pm on 8 June at Brompton Methodist Church Hall for what promises to be a fabulous evening in the company of one of New Zealand’s best photographers.
