Chairman's Challenge

At our recent AGM, a new idea for a member’s night was launched – the Chairman’s Challenge. This is not a competition, but a chance for members to take and submit photographs on a theme. These photographs will be shown as a slideshow on the 9th December 2024. Our outgoing Chairman – Stuart Goldie, has challenged members to capture ‘Farming in Action’ over the next few months.
 
There are a few rules – the main one being that images should be taken between the announcement of the theme at the AGM (8th April 2024) and the submission date of 4th November 2024. Members can submit up to 5 PDIs. The usual submission rules apply with regards sizing of PDIs to keep email sizes manageable. 
Submissions are not anonymous so names can be added to images if members wish these to be shown on the night. Part of the idea behind this slideshow is to avoid the anonymity of competition night and be able to know who took the images and celebrate some of the work of members. That’s harder to do if we don’t know who you are – and remember, this is non-judgemental. Details of how to submit your images to Dave Snowdon will be announced in September.
 
Other than those ‘rules’ the challenge is on to capture Farming In Action over the next few months. Stuart suggested some ideas to get you started including planting/sowing, ploughing, agricultural shows, farming markets, harvesting – there are lots of possibilities. Hopefully members will have some fun rising to Stuart’s challenge and we look forward to seeing the responses in December. Please contact our Programme Secretary initially through the Contact Form, if you have any queries. 

Annual Exhibition Competition & Library Exhibition

Congratulations to all the winners, runners up and Highly Commended members of the club in our Annual Exhibition Competition.

This Competition is judged over two evenings in our Club Programme with the PDI’s being judged on 18 March and the Prints being judged on 25 March. The placings for each of these sections can be viewed here. The Trophy Winners for the whole season can be found here.

Once again the Prints from the Annual Exhibition will be on display in Northallerton Library. This year the Exhibition will open on 17 August and run until 7 September. Please see the Programme Page for details and Library Opening Times.

Special Award

The 121st NCPF Annual General Meeting took place on Sunday 24 March at Clara Vale Village Hall. 

At the end of the meeting, outgoing NCPF President, Alan Wilson ARPS, AFIAP had one last very enjoyable duty to perform.  It was to present Dave Coates ARPS, EFIAP/p, MPAGB, APSA, HonPAGB, Hon FIAP of Northallerton Camera Club with the award of Honorary Life Vice-President of the NCPF.

This award was first created in 2003 and is the highest honour that the NCPF can bestow and awards must meet very strict and demanding conditions.

There must never be more than three Honorary Life Vice-Presidents in existence at any one time. The award recognises exceptional service, which must include 40 years club membership with a minimum of 20 years’ service to the Federation, including at least three Executive Officer Posts (excluding Area Reps and Elected Members) or exceptionally long service in a lesser number of posts. As an award recipient, Dave becomes an ex-officio member of the Executive and receives a badge of office. The Honour which cannot be applied for is granted by an AGM upon the recommendation of the Executive and lasts for life
